Aluminum fence cost
Aluminum is the usual choice for an ornamental look or a pool enclosure. Published ranges are wide, and we have less height-specific data than for other materials, so this guide is clear about what’s sourced and what isn’t.

National reference ranges, not local prices. How we price
Our reference range for 4-ft aluminum is $22.50–$50/ft (typical $36.25): the average of Angi's aluminum picket style and HomeGuide's picket range Our calculation. Assumption For 6 ft we multiply by 1.25, giving $28.12–$62.50/ft (typical $45.31), because none of our sources publishes a 6-ft aluminum range. Aluminum walk gates use our own $300–$900 assumption. Angi only gives a span from $100 for a simple 3-ft gate up to $6,000 for an automatic driveway gate (Angi, updated September 23, 2026).

What moves the price of aluminum fencing
- Style. Flat-top, spear-top and decorative designs differ in price. Angi's picket style alone spans $25–$50/ft.
- Thickness. Angi notes aluminum can dent, and thicker gauges cost more up front (Angi, updated September 23, 2026).
- Height and local rules. Angi says many local codes cap fence height at 6 ft (Angi, updated September 23, 2026). Pool enclosures have their own local rules for height, gaps and gate latches. Check with your town before you buy.
- Labor. In Angi's numbers, labor ($15–$40/ft) can be as large as materials ($7–$32/ft).
- Slopes. Some aluminum panels can be “racked” to follow a slope and others must be stepped. Ask which you're getting.
What to ask an aluminum fence contractor
- Which manufacturer and grade (residential, commercial)? What's the picket and rail thickness?
- If it's around a pool: does the fence and gate meet my town's pool barrier rules, and is the gate self-closing and self-latching?
- Are panels rackable for my slope, or will they be stepped?
- Are posts set in concrete, or surface-mounted?
- What does the finish warranty cover?
- Gate width and hardware?
